Hardcover. Stated 1st edition hardcover with dustjacket 1992 Greenwillow Books. Very clean; no marks; pages bright; binding tight. Only light wear. Language: English. For ages ca. 4-8. 'Florian describes the work of a restaurant chef in simple, spare language. He takes readers through a typical workday asshe shops, plans, and prepares food, with the help of her assistants, to be served that evening. A large pen-and-ink and watercolor illustration on each page extends the text, as a multiethnic kitchen crew is seen cleaning large quantities of fish or vegetables. The exaggerated colors of the crudely outlined figures are striking and effective. Cooking utensils and herbs are shown, as is a step-by-step description of the pastry chef making deep-dish blueberry pies.
